| Octobans
Octobans were originally created by Tama in the 1970s, and are a special type of tom, whose pitch is affected by the depth of the drum rather than diameter. Octobans are usually 6” in diameter, and can be over 20” deep, producing a very short, percussive sound. Usually bundled together in sets of two or four, they are an interesting addition to a standard drum kit, but have limited use in conventional playing.
