		<description>First off, this is a pretty good question.  Take a look at Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater.  He is a drumming god.
The reason he has 3 bass drums is because his drumset has so many different things on it.  He wants to do a double bass, but can&#039;t reach the other drums on his set when he does this.

He does use a double bass method, but he can&#039;t reach other drums that he wants to use because his set is so big.  Hence... three bass drums.</description>
